Beyond the Bet: Understanding, Preventing, and Treating Gambling Disorder

In 2013, the APA renamed and reclassified “Gambling Disorder” under “Substance-Related and Addictive Disorders. However, there has been little training for clinicians ever since. This course provides an overview of clinically pertinent topics related to problem gambling.For example, the course explores the convergence of Gaming and Gambling among youth and emerging adults. It addresses warning signs, screening, and treatment implications for problem and disordered gambling. Participants will examine the impact of gambling on families as well as stigma. Participants will also delve into Co-Occurrence among Gambling, Substance Use Disorders and Mental Health Issues. Recovery resources will be presented to support clinicians treating individuals with problem gambling.  

Only $90.00 if registration completed by 4:00 PM on 3.31.25, fee increases to $100.00 afterwards.

This course is presented in 2-modules, participants must attend BOTH days to be eligible for CE's.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Identify co-occurrence between gambling-related harms and substance use disorder

• Discuss the role that early exposure plays in the potential for gambling-related harms

• Outline the present landscape of gambling

• Identify warning signs for problem gambling

Summarize personality traits and vulnerabilities associated with substance use disorders and gambling problems

Presenter: Daniel Trolaro, MS

Dan has has delivered hundreds of workshops, trainings, and keynote presentations around the country centered on prevention, education, and emerging trends in the world of sports betting, gaming, internet gambling and problem gambling. He is a highly sought-after presenter due to his expertise.

Credentials issued by the APCBNJ, the NJ Board of Marriage and Family Therapy Examiners and the NJ Board of Social Work Examiners recognize such courses. This 6 CE course is approved for social work continuing education hours in accordance with N.J.A.C. 13:44G-6.4c12.

CANCELLATION POLICY:

Registration is not complete and space is not reserved until payment is processed and you receive a second confirmation email from BHM. Please provide a reliable email and phone # when registering. If you are unable to attend a training event, you must notify BHM promptly. ALL cancellation notifications must be made via email: contact@behavioralhealthmatters.com; type “Refund Request” in the subject line. The refund request email must be submitted ONE WEEK (7 DAYS) PRIOR TO DATE OF EVENT. After such a date, cancellations, "no-shows", log-in issues, email access issues, full/partial attendance, etc. will NOT be eligible for a refund. ALL REFUNDS ARE SUBJECT TO A $15.00 (FIFTEEN DOLLAR) PROCESSING FEE.
